Planning for Divorce
The financial ramifications of divorce can be devastating.
But with proper planning and expert help from a professional
with extensive experience in financially equitable divorce
settlements, you can increase your chances of arriving at
a settlement that more fully addresses your long-term needs,
and your spouses too.
Kenneth L. Fortney, CPA/PFS has provided clients litigation
services related to marital dissolutions for over twenty
years. In 2001 Ken formed Fortney Investment Advisors, Inc.
to provide an intelligent alternative to the ineffective investment
options available to investors. Since that time Ken has been
devoting more time to investment advisory and retirement planning.
Ken understand's the financial and tax issues involved
in a divorce. He also understands the emotional trauma of
being suddenly single and having to deal with managing financial
assets and retirement accounts. Where do you begin? You
should face your troubles head on, make plans and pursue your
own personal objectives. Get the financial advice you
need to help you plan your future from someone who's been
involved with these issues.
Ken can provide advice regarding the division of assets,
tax aspects of divorce, economic issues in the aftermath of
divorce, how to interrupt and divide long-term investment
strategies as a result of divorce, how to handle retirement
plans and rollovers, and your financial planning.
QDROs - QUALIFIED
DOMESTIC RELATIONS ORDER
Under the best of circumstances, it takes a substantial
amount of time to discover, analyze, and cope with the complexities
of employee pension and benefit plans. The earlier this process
is started, the better for the parties, their lawyers, and
the family court.
QDROs are much easier to deal with and much better
in quality if the parties and their lawyers come to the property
division and support hearings with draft QDROs, pre-approved
by the plan and ready to present to the court, in hand.
The earlier you the prepare the QDRO the better.
Make sure that the QDRO is executed at the same time the marital
settlement agreement or other orders are signed. There will
be far fewer cases in which the parties will have to come
back again and again for a second or third time to argue collateral
QDRO issues. Provide your clients with a better service and
a timely QDRO resolution.
I work with QDRO Solutions, Inc. to assist the
parties and their attorneys in drafting and preparing QDROs.
